How does one convince others that something is bad for you?
There is convincing evidence that bras cause breast cancer and other health issues. Please do the research and made an informed decision. Save your money, save your sanity (bras drive me insane in the comfort department) and save your life!
It's not the bra that directly causes cancer. It's the waste products that bras cause to back up in the breasts. Think constipation of the breasts. Breasts have no significant muscles. The milk glands have tiny muscles that contract to squirt milk out but they don't affect the breasts on the whole. Breasts are supposed to bounce, jiggle and swing. This movement pushes the interstitial fluid, the fluid that originates as blood plasma, into the lymph vessels, which have one-way or check valves in their tips and along their length. The interstitial fluid goes in but cannot come back out. The interstitial fluid once inside the lymph vessels is called “lymphatic fluid” or simply “lymph.” The lymphatic system is the body’s sewer system. Most waste products from the cells are carried by this sewer system into large veins at the base of the neck. From there it mixes with the venous blood, which carries it down to the kidneys, where waste is filtered out and sent to the bladder. At intervals the bladder is emptied. Some bras have contained carcinogenic chemicals in their fabric but that is a separate subject. The less that a bra is worn, the stretchier and looser the bra, the less the breasts are supported, restrained and compressed, the better for breast health. If a woman has worn a bra from puberty, she may not tolerate tossing her bras in the trash. If she will get wireless “sleep” bras to provide some support and restraint from bouncing, jiggling, swinging she may get along better than totally eliminating bra wearing.
